COTTON CLUB BIG BAND
The roots of the Cotton Club Big Band: The band emerged in 1993 from the St. Johns Jazz Band, which was one of Hamburg’s oldest jazz bands due to its founding in the early 1950s as a student band at the Hamburg Johanneum. The name Cotton Club Big Band stands for the connection to the oldest jazz club in Hamburg, the Cotton Club, which today has its domicile at the old Steinweg. As early as 1993, when the band was founded, a regular cast was formed and whoever was already part of the St. Johns Jazz Band has always been there.
